All-over printing or sublimation is an high-tech printing process where the design is printed everywhere on a garment or product. This is possible because the design is printed as a template on a big format of paper with dye ink thanks to a plotter and then applied directly onto the product with a big dose of heat and pressure.
Heat converts the solid dye particles into a gas through sublimation. There is no liquid phase due to the rapidness of the physical transformation. This quick process bonds the released chemicals to the polyester fibers of the fabric.
The dye is fully embedded into the fabric to show as a result an amazing soft feel and breathability. The design is usually printed on fabrics containing high percentages of polyester.
